On May 30 and 31, GEOAMBIENTE S/A® held the “Contaminated Site Management” Workshop at the State Environmental Institute (Instituto Estadual do Ambiente). Aiming to share specialized knowledge with the environmental agency, we highlighted the importance of each stage of contaminated site management (CSM), emphasizing the compliance levels that companies applying for operating licenses and environmental consultancies must meet to achieve greater accuracy in environmental remediation.
Topics covered included:
- Contaminated Site Management: concepts, procedures and legal aspects
- Hydrogeology and contaminant behavior in the subsurface
- Screening techniques (PSG, XRF)
- High-resolution investigation techniques using the mobile laboratory
- Soil vapor monitoring, vapor intrusion
- High-resolution MIP/OIP/HPT techniques
- Intervention plans for contaminated areas
- Human health risk assessment
- 3D and groundwater flow modeling using LeapFrog and GeoStudio
- New emerging contaminants of environmental concern
- Remediation products – ISCO and S-ISCO techniques
- Remediation products – biostimulation, adsorption and stabilization
- Bench-scale testing
- Field pilot testing
- Real-world cases of innovative remediation techniques
The initiative reaffirms GEOAMBIENTE S/A®’s commitment to training environmental remediation professionals and helping them master innovative techniques.
