The privilege of celebrating a company’s 20th anniversary belongs to few. It cannot be achieved alone: it requires certain talents, resilience, team spirit and, above all, good leadership. In our anniversary year, we are certain that the qualities that got us here to tell this story carry plenty of each of those elements.
Contaminated site management was the main motivation for brothers Everton Carvalho and Cícero Carvalho to found GEOAMBIENTE® S/A in 2002. Combining knowledge from Environmental Engineering, Chemistry and Geology proved to be a perfect match, alongside both brothers’ calling to work in the environmental field.
With full support from their father, both moral and material — who lent part of the space in his print shop, a former garage, and a fax machine — the brothers were able to set up their company, complete with a physical address and a phone line, and began operating in the market.
In the beginning, as a newly founded company, came the challenge of getting the word out and landing the first contract. Within two months, they closed a deal with CETREL, in Bahia, which involved monitoring 60 wells once a week across three different sites (accident locations), covering an average of 500 km in a single day. Shortly after this job, the company carried out its first confirmatory Environmental Diagnosis at a gas station in Cerro Azul.
Today, GEOAMBIENTE S/A employs more than 200 staff members from diverse fields of expertise, uses the most modern technologies available, and serves medium and large companies, becoming one of the best-known and most respected names in Brazil in environmental diagnosis and remediation.
